So, today I’m going to talk about my work in progress (or WIP). I have just cleared 44,000 words of the first draft and have a bit to go yet before it’s finished, but I’m getting so excited about this book. I’m loving writing it, so I’m hoping readers will love reading it. I’m hoping to get it launched by the beginning of March.
In the meantime, here’s the draft cover for you to see…
So, how’s life been for you lately? had a bug about two weeks ago that set me back a bit. I didn’t have any really bad symptoms, I just felt yuck, had a sore throat and earache, and was really, really tired. It meant I didn’t work on my novel as much that entire week, which was a bit of a bummer. The yuckiness lifted finally last Sunday and I’ve been playing catch-up ever since. Anyway, I’m back to good health again.
What I’m reading – I’ve started reading the first Witcher book and it’s superb. The opening pages are amazing. So exciting. I’m close to the end of the book and just itching to start the next one. That’s the sign of an excellent author. Really recommend them. I finished the Terry Pratchett autobiography (also really good), but have been so wrapped up in The Witcher that I haven’t got a second book on the go at the same time (as I usually would).
What I’m watching – I’ve recently purchased some secondhand DVDs of Two Thousand Acres of Sky. It’s a BBC series about a woman who leaves London with her two kids and her best friend, Kenny, to go and live on a Scottish island. She’s there to start a new life. I loved it when it was first shown on the BBC many years ago and I just got an itch to start watching it again. It’s one of those shows that’s just so enjoyable to watch. I’ve also been watching Funny Woman, a comedy series starring Gemma Arterton which is set in 1960s London and is about a young woman who leaves Blackpool to pursue her ambition to become a comedy actress. I really enjoyed it. Binge watched the entire first series!
Right, I’m going to finish up here today. I’m feeling a bit peckish and it’s two hours before dinner-time, so I’m away for a snack. Until next time.
Dawn xxx
