February 26 – Tell a Fairy Tale Day

#TellAFairyTaleDay

Couldn’t miss this day. A love of fairytales is what got me into reading and writing and I will be forever grateful to the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen and the like for their wonderful anthologies of folk tales. Without those stories, my childhood wouldn’t have been so full of imagination and colour. So, today, tell someone your favourite fairytale.

February 9 – Read in the Bathtub Day

#ReadInTheBathtubDay

I do this all the time, read in the bathtub that is, so this is just a repeat of other days for me. However, I still think we should all still fully embrace this event and get reading in the bath.

Here’s how:

  1. Fill up bathtub with water and bubbles
  2. Get in
  3. Get book
  4. Read
  5. Ignore children knocking at door
  6. Keep reading

February 3 – Carrot Cake Day

#CarrotCakeDay

Have you noticed that most of my posts this year so far have involved food? Well, that’s deliberate. I think there’s so many horrible things going on in the world, that I want to cheer up your day with happy things. Hence today is Carrot Cake Day.

To celebrate, grab yourself a carrot cake, sit back with a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy.

January 25 – Burns Night

#BurnsNight

I love tonight. I get to eat haggis, neeps and tatties again! Woohoo! Tonight is the night that Scots (and their descendents across the world) celebrate the birth of our bard, Rabbie Burns (born this day in 1759). How we celebrate is we have special Burns Events where we eat haggis, neeps (mashed turnip) and tatties (mashed potatoes) whilst listening to some of Burns’ amazing poetry. Usually this is Address to a Haggis and A Toast to the Lassies followed by Tam O’ Shanter.
