Apologies for the blurry photos. These were taken quickly on my phone at 8.30am in the morning. Just look how dark it still is in Glasgow at that time! During the winter, I go to work in the dark and return home in the dark…it can be so soul destroying. However, the lovely Christmas lights of George Square (pictured above) and the big wheel and all the other lovely things in the square really cheer me up.
Life has been pretty busy lately. Apart from finally finishing the first draft of DarkIsle 3 (yipeee!), I’ve been doing a fair amount of sewing including two Waldorf style dolls for my kids…
… I’ve still got a few things to finish like slippers for the girl doll, the rest of the boy doll’s pyjamas and another wee outfit for them both. I’ve really enjoyed making them having seen these types of dolls all over the web. I think Waldorf dolls are lovely. Hopefully my kids will too. I like to make them something every year for Christmas. Last year I gave them a knitted vintage style horse each which they both love. Fingers crossed they like these. Anyway, I’ve had fun making them and that’s a big part of it!
Ooh, the big news is, this small person has turned up at last…
…remember when Vanessa (above) went missing and my girl was distraught? She claimed she had searched high and low. Well it turns out she hadn’t searched her bedroom all that well because this little monster and the bag she was in turned up under the girl’s bed. Sigh. At least it wasn’t stolen by someone entering the house like we had feared. Weans!!
And finally, there’s a great little place out on the east coast (well it’s actually on the First of Forth) called the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and we took the kids there last weekend for the Santa train. It was great. We got on the old carriage and went on a train journey pulled by a lovely steam train. There was a man playing Christmas tunes on an accordion and the railway volunteers were singing (along with all the passengers!). Then Santa walked along the train and chatted to the kids and handed out presents. The whole experience lasted about 40 minutes and we enjoyed it as much as the kids. Here’s me on the carriage…
That hat on my head was given out to everyone on the train. It’s a paper hat with reindeer antlers. What a hoot!!
Anyway, this is my last post til after Christmas so I’m going to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Dawn xx
Great news about the DarkIsle 3 draft! And you could make those dolls for a living! Have a great Christmas! George x
Hi George!! How are you both?? Hope you had a nice Christmas and thanks for the lovely comment. Dawn xxxxx
A belated Merry Christmas to you all. Vanessa makes it home in time for the big day…. what a relief. I wonder where she’d been all that time. There must be a big adventure lurking there somewhere! I trust the current gales aren’t spoiling your fun. Wishing you all a very happy 2012. Eli
Hi Eli. She was having a big adventure under the girl’s bed…I told her to look there, but she obviously didn’t! Would have saved a lot of grief. Sigh. Yes, had even more gales last night. House still standing thank goodness. What about yourself?? How’s the weather down where you are??You have a happy 2012 too…am looking forward to seeing what your dolls get up to next year!
