Officially launch of Everything She Wants

Everything She Wants is out now on Amazon!

Hello and welcome to the official launch day of Everything She Wants which is available now on Amazon. This darkly funny book revolves around the much put upon Susan who, fed up with her bullying husband and spoilt teenage daughter, decides to run away with a Wham! tribute band. As their ‘Pepsi’, the band start to grow in popularity and are soon asked to support a bona fide 80’s pop band, Oh Yeah!, headed by the dangerously attractive Sol. This book is NOT for the faint-hearted nor anyone who is easily offended by bad language and wicked humour. It’s out now as an e-book, paperback or large print.

Right, so now I have officially launched it, back to the normal blog. How are you all? Hope you are good. Welcome to my new subscribers, thank you for signing up. What’s been happening in your world? It’s a bit of a cold and frosty morning this morning, and my car windscreen wash was frozen solid when I took the kids to school this morning. This meant I had to stop and wipe the road salt and dirt off the windscreen a few times to be able to see where I was going. It’s also lovely and sunny today here on the west coast of Scotland (can’t say the same for other areas of Scotland where they’ve had snow), so the scenery is stunning round about where I live: there’s snow on hills and mountains, the sun is sparkling off the River Clyde and it’s all just lovely.

Anyway, I am wittering on too much. This week, I have been pretty busy. I met with some fellow writers and some business women earlier this week to share ideas and experience. It was great fun. It’s so nice to be in a group of women who are so enthusiastic about what they do and they were all so nice and welcoming. I also attended a career’s day at my daughter’s high school where I sat on a panel and talked about my careers in journalism, public relations and in writing. My daughter – nearly 14 – was at one of the sessions. She said I talked too much, we all talked too much and it was boring. Sigh. Hopefully, though at least one kid got something out of what me and the rest of the panel (panel one was me, a teacher, a lawyer and two police officers; panel two was me, a dentist, an IT programmer and the CEO of a plumbing business) had to say. I really enjoyed the morning and the school gave us a certificate of attendance, a mug and lunch to say thank you. What’s come out of it though is equally as positive (apart from being able to embarrass my daughter! 😉 ) was the fact that I am hopefully going to be helping one of the local police officers with some PR around a youth project he’s doing. I’m happy to help: it keeps my hand in, I can give back to the local community and I hope my son might be interested in joining the group when he’s older (he is not a natural joiner of clubs and I think it would do him the world of good to join one). Anyway, I will let you know what happens.

What’s not been good about this week is that I have done nothing towards writing apart from going to the group and doing some work around launching Everything She Wants. I will get back into it today… promise. I want to get the sequel of Dusting Down Alcudia out by springtime.

My other main activity this week – apart from housework, which is boring and I hate doing it – was catching up on tv programmes. Can I just say I am already missing Outlander which finished this week. I just love those books and the programme. Also, what is going on with Jocasta and Murtagh?? Loved that! Anyway, (and stop reading now if you haven’t seen it yet) I am so glad that Briana and Roger are back together. Obviously, having read the book, I knew that, but it was still a warm and fuzzy moment to me when they were finally together.

Currently reading Inventing Ourselves: The Secret Life of the Teenage Brain by Sarah-Jayne Blakemore. It was leant to me by a friend and is actually quite interesting. Maybe it’ll help me work out my teenage daughter’s mind! 😀

And Pyjama Profit: The Millennials Guide to a Sustainable Freelance Career by Varun Mayya and Abhinav Chhikara.

I’m not a Millennial – I’m Generation X – but I thought I might learn something from this book that will help my writing career. It’s an interesting book written by two Indian entrepreneurs. I’ve only just started it, but I’ll let you know how I get on.

By the way, in case you are wondering why I never mention Brexit in these posts, the answer is simple: like everyone else, I haven’t a clue what’s going on and am embarrassed at how inept our country must look to others (shakes head). Plus I want this blog to be a happy space. All the nonsense surrounding Brexit does not make me happy. Sigh.

Right, I am going to end here and wish you all a happy Friday and hope your weekend is fabulous. I have no big plans for the weekend other than finished my next university assignment – this time it’s about tradition and dissent, really interesting. Til next time.

Dawn xx
